Electrical Inspections Gone with Government Shut-Down
Minnesota lawmakers have put a damper on what should be a festive July 4th holiday weekend. No state parks, no Minnesota Zoo, no rest stops for those fleeing to their fishing shacks.
But those aren’t the only implications.
The government shut-down also impacts state electrical inspections. MPR News got it right – construction will come to a screeching halt if builders and contractors can’t secure the necessary inspections. While some cities have their own inspectors, many projects require one, or even two, inspections by one of the 75 state inspectors.
State inspectors have been given instruction to limit their activity to only “critical core functions” during the government shutdown. So for those homeowners with new construction or remodels underway, you may have to wait for an agreed-upon state budget before you can complete your project!
Unless the government comes to an agreement quickly, contractors and homeowners alike are bound to face issues. Let’s all hope for a speedy agreement so we can all get on with our summer projects!
